Bush Cabinet Secretary's Foundation is Questioned

Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt and his family have received millions in tax breaks from a charitable foundation they created that appears merely to loan or give money back to them.

As the Washington Post points out, standard charitable foundations are required to give away at least 5% of their money every year. Secretary Leavitt's foundation has given away less than 1%. Most of the foundation funds have been used for interest-free loans to Leavitt and his various business ventures.

It seems that something questionable comes out about this administration every day.

America deserves better.

Comments:
Are you kidding me? Leavitt hasn't actually done anything wrong or criminal. Let's think back to the Clinton Admin where their cronies were going to jail for criminal activities, and oh yeah, the President and his wife were involved in scandal after scandal! Yes, America does deserve better- and they got it with this Admin!
Leavitt's only failing here is that he hasn't given away enough money yet. It's not criminal. Oh, and the POst doesn't like who he has given his money to thus far. Let's also keep in mind, this is his FAMILY's trust that hasn't done enough. Not Leavitt alone. How about the POst wake up and tell us if and where Leavitt personally donated his money. If his family trust is the only place he donated, that is his choice. But I'd bet bottom dollar it's just one of many places he donated this year.
