Rep. Sekula-Gibbs' Seven Week Term Should Be Entertaining

Tom DeLay's replacement for the remaining few weeks of the current Congress -- Shelley Sekula-Gibbs -- is already acting even more arrogantly that old Tom.

She pitched a fit when she heard that Bush and Cheney would not be coming to her little party after her swearing-in ceremony.

She had her picture taken with soon-to-be-former House Speaker Denny Hastert practicing for the swearing in.

She announced she was going to make the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy permanent, reform our immigration laws and find a good solution for the war in Iraq -- all, apparently, in her remaining few weeks in office.

Then virtually her entire staff quit en masse because of the way she treated them. (Think about how bad she must have acted to cause them to quit like that.)

And now, despite being told that her computer files were scrubbed of DeLay's materials by an outside Congressional vendor, per usual practice, she claimed the recently departed staff had erased the records, saying they "brought shame to this office."

It seems to me she's the one who brought the shame.

Her antics will be fun to watch until she's booted out in January. But maybe by then she will have solved Bush's problem in Iraq.
